Fourth industrial revolution, data science as a pillar

Enterprise Statistics falls within the definition of a 4.0 service and technology provider, as it falls within the themes of “Big Data and Analytics”, “Solutions and projects relating to the application and implementation of Artificial Intelligence technology”, “digital applications for the management and coordination of business processes”.

On the meaning of big data I had already expressed myself, but here I can give another informal definition, as a data engineer: when data can no longer fit on a single machine or server, so a group of machines (cluster) is needed. In my videos I say that micro and small companies only need databases of a few MB, hardly reaching GB, so that data will fit on a 2004 USB stick with plenty of replicas. So, as you guess, only from medium-sized companies upwards they end up with several TB of data (1 million times larger than the MB). Of smaller companies may find themselves having big data if they have, for example, machines, sensors, connected to the Internet of Things (IoT). In these situations you may have multiple writes per second (of data), as a result a significant volume of data is generated.

On artificial intelligence (AI) you can find a somewhat philosophical article and a live one where I comment on an event. If by AI we mean explanatory or predictive statistical models of an important phenomenon in your business (e.g., turnover or conversions), you can find many videos about it.

On business processes, statistical analyses bring out useful information, practical knowledge hidden in data, which can detect processes that are too costly or potentially more profitable.

The statistician, or data scientist, will become a taken-for-granted figure, for companies ready for this evolution, just as we take the accountant or electricity for granted today. Want to be part of those companies? Let’s hear from you for a free initial call.
