Does your company need a sales analyst?

On LinkedIn you may notice ads for sales analysts and business analysts. Often these are non data-based companies.

Here is an example ad:

We are selecting a sales analyst figure to be included in support of Commercial Management.

Duties:

  • Carry out analysis of sales data to support the commercial management and the sales team to support decision-making processes
  • Monitor the main commercial and economic indicators (KPIs): turnover, margin, rotations
  • Check budget and turnover variances
  • Carry out sales forecasting activities
  • Prepare periodic commercial reports
  • Provide support to the Sales department with quantitative data and accurate statistics
  • Identify significant trends and development opportunities for the company
  • Propose actions to optimize sales performance and maximize profits

Unfortunately, ads of this type give me the impression they are looking for technicians in Excel / power BI, therefore employees who have a more limited vision of things than a data scientist (generally). Understandably, a salesperson will tend to look for someone familiar with their tools, generally Excel.

If you are interested in having experience with an entire data department, you can rely on Enterprise Statistics, which has a cost more similar to an accountant than an employee, also because most of the tasks mentioned they do not require daily manual labor. But first let’s get to know each other in one first call free.
